In Vista’s earliest sales presentations, I quoted Peter Drucker:
“What gets measured gets managed”
Ten years later, the proof is in. Outcomes among the elite group of treatment centers who invest in scientifically measuring and continually improving their effectiveness continue to increase.
Every year, Conquer Addiction’s nonprofit judges give an Excellence in Treatment award to the addiction treatment centers whose post-treatment abstinence rates are in the top third of all applicants.
In order to be an Excellence in Treatment winner in 2025, treatment centers had to prove that at least 46.4% of their patients were reachable one year post-treatment and had met their drug and alcohol goals for at least the last 30 days. Congratulations to these incredibly-effective addiction treatment centers:

46.4% | Novato, California |

It’s interesting to see how the success rates of Excellence in Treatment applicants have increased over the years. In 2019, the first year Conquer Addiction held the award contest, the 16 applicants had an average success rate of 36.7%. Six years later, the average has increased to 43.5%!:
We’ve seen a similar increase in the success rate required to win an Excellence in Treatment award. From 2020 to 2025, the average success rate for the winners climbed from 43.6% to 49.1%. (Note: Renaissance Ranch of Idaho achieved an unprecedented 65.5% success rate in 2019 owing to its average length of stay of 255 days, which dramatically increased the 2019 average).
Worried You’re Falling Behind?
If you’re not scientifically measuring and continually improving the percentage of your patients who are meeting their treatment goals post-treatment, you are falling behind. And now that value-based care has finally arrived in the addiction treatment space, you are missing out on profitable opportunities as a result.
